What is the importance of Gaya pind daan? We will explain in details in this article.

Before we start going further into discussing different topics about pind daan. Let me explain to you the importance of pind daan in Gaya.

Importance of Gaya Pind Daan

Pind daan as per Hindu belief is the ritual to offer prayers and food to the departed souls of the family member.

On the occasion Pitru Paksha Mela, numerous devotees across the world visit Gaya to offer pind daan to pay homage to the departed souls.

Pitru Paksha Mela is a religious gathering for the period of 16 days September – August in the monsoon season.

Pind daan is performed by the eldest son or any other male members in the family. In some cases, where it is not possible for male members to perform this karma, female members can do this ritual.

Here is the video of Pandit Jagdish Shyam Das of Iskcon explaining in detail about pind daan.

Types of pind daan

Below are some kinds of pind daan one performs during pind daan under the guidance of pandits and soothing mantras.

PITRA DOSH NIVARAN

Tarpan karma, praying pitra by offering clothes, food, and respect to Brahmins. This is performed if anybody has pitra dosh in the Kundli to get rid of the ill effect of this dosha.

TIRPINDI SHRADH

For someone who died unnaturally, like in an accident, TIRPINDI SHRADH is performed for the peace of the departed soul.

KALSHARPYOG POOJA

This pooja is performed for those who have Kalsharpyog Dosh in the kundli. This dosh can bring a threat to health and finance to one’s life.

KALSHARPYOG pooja becomes mandatory for those who want to get rid of this dosha for peace and prosperity in life.
